What mentors or teachers do/did you follow?

I completed my training in Austin, Texas in 2019 under Mary Richardson, who I continue to practice with virtually. I also practice weekly with another Austin-based teacher, Karlie Lemos. Their teachings are deeply informed by yoga philosophy, and they inspire me to be a teacher who above all is approachable, lighthearted, and kind.

As far as mentors, all of my loved ones, including my partner, my mother, and especially my nieces and nephews, continually inspire me in my efforts to radically care for others.

Where did you study?

I completed my 200-hour Hatha flow-based yoga training at Yoga Yoga in Austin. I feel very grateful that my training emphasized anatomy education guided by Dr. Mark Uridel, a Licensed Physical Therapist, Certified Yoga Therapist, and Board Certified Therapeutic Bodyworker.

This year I also completed a guided meditation course through Studio Satya, also in Austin. In my spare time, I love to read and learn about Ayurveda. Always looking for book recommendations in this field!

What styles have you practiced / trained in?

I have practiced vinyasa yoga the most in depth, primarily from teachers informed by the Ashtanga lineage. I first deepened my practice with an intensive in the Ashtanga Primary Series. This method has been profoundly transformative for me, physically and mentally, as someone with a busy mind that tends to get anxious. I love when I drop into a meditative flow, allow my breath to guide movement, and navigate the physical experiences of effort to balance them with ease.

I have also practiced alignment-based Hatha, yin, and restorative yoga. I’ve taken a few Kundalini classes in my time as well. 🙂 I love weaving together complementary aspects of these lineages to balance and ground the austere and heating elements of my flow classes.

Book or movie recommendations?

I believe The Argonauts by Maggie Nelson is an essential read. It’s dense, but worth it!

What hobbies do you enjoy most?

I love to cook, explore outside, grow plants when I can (especially ones I can eat), paint, take pictures, and snuggle with my cat.
